A year in WSB with the SP-1 has seen Honda go back to the drawing board and come up with something that is almost better than perfect. The SP-1 handled well, the SP-2 handles even better. The SP-1 was fast, the SP-2 is even faster and more powerful.
The fuel injection has been tweaked for a better throttle response at low revs, which was not ideal on the SP-1, and also improves the power output by 3 or 4 bhp, now up to 137bhp at the crankshaft.
Slight modifications to the frame and an all new subframe and swingarm have shaved some weight off the machine.
As close as your going to get to a real World Superbike for the road, available at dealers around January 2002 for £10,000.
