2002 Honda ST1300

New 2002 Grand Tourer from Honda featuring all new bodywork, adjustable riders seat, motor driven adjustable screen for comfort and protection.

The ST1300 is 33 pounds lighter than 2001 ST1100 and over 2 inches shorter. The chassis is all new for 2002 and is manufactured from aluminium offering rigidity and excellent handling characteristics. It’s just under 17lbs lighter than the steel frame it replaces. The swing arm is now also aluminium and lighter than its steel predecessor. Front forks are 45mm cartridge type with Honda Multi-Action System.
ABS model is available, and features an electric motor driven control unit. Honda’s linked braking system is standard on both models.

Cooling radiator is aluminium and ‘U’ shaped for a greater surface area and is fan assisted for extra cooling at low speeds.
Five-speed gearbox is a cassette type and gearing has been lowered by approximately 5 percent compared to the ST1100 giving better roll-on performance

 A motor driven windscreen is standard on the ABS model. Headlamp has dual H4 bulbs with multi-reflectors and is electrically adjusted via a button on the left side of the fairing. ST1300_screen
pannier.jpg (18530 bytes) Standard on both models is the three-way adjustable seat and a pair of 35 litre detachable panniers, each capable of taking a full-face helmet.

The fuel tank is in two parts, the main tank holding 21 litres and a smaller 8 litre tank situated lower down in the chassis. Range should be in the region of 235 miles. Fuel pump is electric and located inside the smaller tank. Exhaust system is 4-2 design with twin silencers with a triangular section.

ST 1300 dash Instruments are clear and uncluttered in typical Honda fashion.

A very nice update to a popular model that will be welcomed by Honda riders everywhere. Also one which should see the lowering of prices on the secondhand market for ST1100's. The ST1300 is available now in the UK.
