Stunning mid range power from the Blackbirds 1137ccs sets the big Honda aside from other sports bikes. This is the successor to the ever-popular CBR1000F sports/tourer and is selling in very big numbers across the country.
Massive engine has four inline cylinders with DOHC and 16 valves, twin gear driven balance shafts to eliminate vibration, six-speed close ration gearbox and
chain drive.
Electronic fuel injection with advanced digital mapping and knock-control sensor contribute to the awesome mid range power.
Exhaust is a tuned high flow system with massive 6.4 litre canister style silencer cans incorporating 3 way catalytic converters.
Frame is lightweight aluminium with a twin spar, diamond configuration for rigidity. A triple box section swing arm forms part of the integral Pro-Link rear suspension with stepless adjustment of rebound
damping on the rear shock absorber.
Hondas linked braking system has also been used on the Blackbird. (LBS) using a second master cylinder and proportional control valve to couple the dual front and single rear brake discs. Applying either the handlebar lever or foot pedal partially activates both front and rear discs for balanced braking power.
The fairing has been wind tunnel tested to give a low drag coefficient, making it more efficient than most 250s. It also affords a high level of wind and weather protection for the rider. Top speed is around 190 mph.
Instruments are sports style with an "in your face" analogue rev counter and digital speedometer, temperature gauge and clock either side.
