Harley’s 1200 version of the Sportster is fundamentally the same as the 883 and differs only in engine size, power output and paint options. The cycle parts are identical to the 883.

Torque on the 1200 is a perfect 71 lbs-ft at a mere 4000-rpm, making for effortless roll-ons.

Paint is available in two-tone options on the 1200 with 7 colours to choose from.

Like the 883 the 1200 is often a stepping-stone to some of the more exotic models in the range or purchased as a base model to allow the owner to customize the machine to his/her own style. The chances of seeing a standard 1200 Sportster on the road are pretty slim. 

Very few people leave the bike as it left the factory, preferring to personalise it in some way or another. There is a huge range of accessories and aftermarket parts available, probably more than any other make of motorcycle, with Harley’s own Screamin’ Eagle parts among the most popular.
